Modrić Cave – An Underground Adventure near Dalmor
Modrić Cave, located near Dalmor, is one of the most exciting underground destinations in Dalmatia. Unlike many fully developed tourist caves, Modrić remains in its natural, untouched state – making the adventure even more special.
Visitors enter the cave in small groups with an expert guide, equipped with helmets and lamps. Inside, you will discover impressive stalactites and stalagmites, spacious chambers, and narrow passages that create a true exploratory experience. Without concrete paths or artificial lighting, the tour provides a completely authentic feeling of entering a hidden world shaped over thousands of years.
This trip is ideal for nature lovers, speleologists, photographers, and those seeking mild adventure. Comfortable sports clothing and footwear are recommended, and the tour lasts about two hours.
Cerovačke Caves – The Magical Underground World of Velebit
Located in southern Velebit near Gračac, the Cerovačke Caves are one of the largest and most significant cave systems in Croatia. They consist of the Lower and Upper Caves, both adapted for visitors with paved paths, lighting, and expert guidance.
During the tour, you can see rich cave formations, tall chambers, fossils, and traces from ancient times. The temperature inside the caves is around 6 °C year-round, so warmer clothing is recommended.
Nearby is the Underground Heritage Center, a modern interpretation center featuring exhibitions and multimedia displays dedicated to the geological and speleological wonders of Velebit.
Why Visit Both Locations?
They offer two completely different but equally fascinating underground experiences.
Modrić provides an authentic, natural adventure, while Cerovačke Caves offer a well-organized walk through geological history.
The constant temperature of 6 °C provides a refreshing escape on hot summer days.
