ZADAR

Zadar is one of the most distinctive cities on the Adriatic coast—a blend of history, modern design, and unforgettable sunsets. A walk through its old town offers an experience where millennia-old heritage intertwines with outstanding contemporary installations that have made the city world-famous.

Sea Organ – music created by the sea
On the western side of Zadar’s waterfront are the Sea Organ, a unique architectural installation that turns the sea into a musical instrument. Waves flow into pipes hidden beneath the stone steps, producing melodic sounds, allowing visitors to literally listen to the sea “play.” It is one of the most popular spots in the city, especially at sunset.

Greeting to the Sun – a magic of light
Located right next to the Sea Organ is the Greeting to the Sun, an impressive solar-powered installation by architect Nikola Bašić. A large glass circle absorbs solar energy during the day and glows in a variety of colors at night, creating beautiful light patterns. It is a perfect place for photography, evening strolls, and enjoying the unique atmosphere of Zadar’s waterfront.

Church of St. Donatus – a symbol of Zadar’s history
One of the city’s most recognizable landmarks is the monumental Church of St. Donatus, built in the 9th century. Situated next to the Roman Forum, this circular pre-Romanesque structure offers an impressive insight into early medieval architecture. Thanks to its exceptional acoustics, St. Donatus is often used today as a venue for musical performances, making it not only a historical but also a cultural center.
